Who Are We?
David Jacobs: David is the Chief Executive of The Wellbeing Work Alliance. He is a former practising barrister and in-house lawyer. He is also perhaps the most experienced developer of training programmes currently working in the legal industry. His expertise in creating training programmes dates back to 1987 when he devised, developed and marketed the first in a series of food and nutrition law conferences. Since that time he has produced in excess of 1750 events (attended by over 50,000 people) and training products, including conferences, seminars, webinars, e-learning modules and videos, with lawyers from 74 of the top 100 law firms, 9 out of the top 10 accountancy firms and almost all of the leading sets of chambers. He has also been involved in the production of training videos for LNTV, Management Today, the Financial Times and the Observer Newspaper and has extensive experience in publishing, primarily on the editorial side.
Jeffrey H. Bunn: Jeff runs The Wellbeing Work Alliance's US operation. He is a former litigation attorney who practised in both State and Federal courts for nearly 40 years, and was previously a member of a Management Committee and ethics partner for a Chicago law firm. Jeff was prior chair of the Chicago Bar Association (“CBA”) Commercial Litigation committee, and more recently, the founder and chair of the CBA committee on Mindfulness and the Law. He is a regular meditator, and is schooled in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction ("MBSR")”.Jeff was the initial vice-chair of the Lawyers’ Assistance Program (“LAP”) Illinois Task Force for Lawyer Well-Being. He is the founding Member of The Mindful Law Coaching & Consulting Group, LLC
James Pereira QC: James divides his time between a leading practice at the bar and dedicated work as an individual and team coach, with particular focus on the legal profession. He is a trained organisation, relationship and systems coach and certified NLP Master Practitioner. He integrates meditation, yoga, creativity, and other essential practices into his work and private life. James co-writes a regular column, “Loving Legal Life”, on professional performance and wellbeing in The Lawyer, and has published in the bar’s own journal, Counsel Magazine. He is a co-founder of The Libra Partnership, which provides coaching and training services tailored to the particular needs of solicitors, barristers, law firms and chambers, and couples coaching for personal relationships. He has experienced first-hand the benefits of developing essential skills to his own practice, having been nominated as Silk of the Year by the Legal 500 in 2016, 2018 and 2019, and ranked in the Top 10 planning silks nationwide by Planning Magazine in 2019.
Manu Kanwar is an ex General Counsel, founder of a legal consultancy and a leadership and organisational coach. His consultancy, LexSolutions, is dedicated to helping law firms and legal departments optimise the business, strategic and cultural aspects of their work. Manu is passionate about helping lawyers be their best selves and humanising the legal profession generally. He is also a mindfulness facilitator with programmes including empathy, resilience and stress management. In his team work, he specialises in alignment, innovation and collaboration - drawing from his design thinking expertise and relationship system coaching training. In his individual work, he specialises in personal freedom, creativity and 'self-fulfilling success'.
Nick Bloy: Nick is a former Lawyer and HR Business Partner. Three years ago he founded Wellbeing Republic, a consultancy designed to help people and organisations unleash their true potential. He works as an executive coach and trainer, regularly delivering training to lawyers and other professionals. He brings together the latest thinking in the fields of neuroscience, psychology, physiology, evolutionary biology, biochemistry and many more, to help people understand how to optimise their performance, health and happiness, by harnessing evolutionary biology. Having worked in highly demanding and high-pressure roles in the City of London over a twelve-year period, working 12+ hour days and weekends, he is acutely aware of the impact that negative stress and anxiety can have on cognition, productivity, health and wellbeing - he experienced it himself, first-hand. He uses his personal experiences, together with his knowledge of human performance and his passion for people, to help others unlock their true potential and help them to thrive.
Zita Tulyahikayo is a London based Systemic Coach of her own concept, Life Therapy. This is a unique approach to coaching that draws upon all her skills, training and experience. Zita also co-writes a bi-monthly career and wellbeing column Loving Legal Life for The Lawyer Magazine and is Wellbeing Adviser for Counsel Magazine with James Pereira QC. Zita has over 10 years experience working as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Systemic Coach accredited by ICF and CSC
